DIY Hair Treatments

I had a massive life change this week, I became a blonde! I'll be posting a video soon so you guys can see what it looks like. I love it! I feel like a Barbie. However, this was the first time I've ever made a massive color change and I want to make sure that I take care of my new hair color. Using a color safe shampoo and conditioner is absolutely important but using masks and rinses can really help preserve your color as well. I did some research and found some of the best DIY hair treatments. Some of these are blonde specific but most of them could be for any hair color!

Volume Adding Mask
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 small ripe avocados
Apply mask to entire head and let sit for one to two hours, or until completely dry. Shampoo and condition as usual.

Blonde Preserving Rinse
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1/2 cup filtered water
Pour over entire head and rinse with cold water.

Nourishing Hair Mask
1/2 cup yogurt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 egg
Apply to hair (works really well after an oil treatment and rinse), leave on for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Color Booster For Blondes
Squeeze juice from a lemon and grate raw potato, blend together to form a paste. Add 1/2 cup room temperature chamomile tea and stir. Shampoo then spread mask through hair. Cover head with a shower cap or plastic wrap and blow dry to heat hair for about 2-3 minutes. Rinse.

Let me know how these work for you guys or if you have any at home treatments that you swear by!
