I am a Zumba freak. I would go to Zumba twice a day everyday if my gym offered it. Although my gym does offer Zumba about 4x a week, they offer a TON of Les Mills classes. I find Les Mills classes to be a wee bit intimidating, (they have names like "Body Attack" and have pictures of ripped men on their posters) and Sh'bam was no exception. However, when I read the description for it, Sh'bam sounded a lot like Zumba:
"Featuring simple but seriously hot dance moves, SH'BAM™ is the perfect way to shape up and let out your inner star - even if you're dance challenged."
So I decided to give it a shot, what's the worst that can happen?
I was so surprised! Sh'bam turned out to be super fun, I may even like it better than Zumba (and that is a BIG statement coming form me!). It wasn't scary and the moves weren't really difficult but I did feel like I was getting a great cardio workout. It seems like the only real difference between this class and Zumba is the music. Sh'bam uses high energy remixes to the current hits (although there were a few 80s songs that I could've done without), where as Zumba uses all Latin mixes - most of which are custom made for Zumba. The best part is that Sh'bam burns an average of 506 calories! That's about as much as a run of the the same length would.
Now that I've tried one Les Mills class, I may get up the courage to try some of the other ones. One thing is for sure, I'll definitely be heading back to Sh'bam!
For more info on the class here is their website.
