Beauty for the Budgeted

In case you guys haven't figured it out, I don't have a lot of money. In fact, my income is well below the Australian poverty line. Thankfully, I'm a decent budgeter and bargain shopper. I can usually figure out a way to buy what I want, even if it means saving for a couple weeks or not eating out for a while. I thought I'd share with you guys my tried and true methods for staying beautiful on a budget!

1. Ebay, Ebay, Ebay (and Amazon)
I have preached about the wonders of ebay so many times, I should probably ask for commission. Ebay is freaking amazing for finding things cheap. If your looking for a particular product, check out Ebay and Amazon before you buy it anywhere else. Chances are, you'll be able to find it or a comparable product for much less than retail price.

2. Power in Numbers
I have three group buying apps/sites that I check ever day to find the best deals: ScooponGroupon, and Living Social. The deals that you can find on these sites is amazing! There are always great deals on beauty treatments, especially haircuts. I found a deal today where you could get a haircut and style, a makeup lesson and application, and a Shellac manicure for less than $30. That's amazing savings! That being said, it's easy to get carried away with these sites. Just because you can get a 9 course Malaysian dinner banquet for two for only $40, doesn't mean you need it. Make sure that you're only purchasing deals that you will actually use!

3. Go Back To School
All students need to learn, even beauty students! You can get awesome discounts (or sometimes even free) treatments at beauty schools or from training apprentices. You do need to remember that these are students, so there is a small chance that they will mess up. However, I my own experiences I've found that students tend to be more attentive to their client and really try to please them because they have more at stake than someone already established in their field. A quick google search for beauty schools in your area should give you all the info you need to make an appointment.
