Lessons from Breakfast At Tiffany's

The Lovely Audrey

Since my first viewing of Breakfast at Tiffany's, I've been a tiny bit obsessed.  As fat as I'm concerned Holly Golightly is the most elegant woman ever and I want to be her. This movie teaches us several lessons about life that are just too good to be ignored.

Lesson #1 - There is nothing classier than a LBD and pearls. There's a reason "Fred" helped Holly by searching under he bed for the missing alligator pump,  no one can resist the classic combination of a classic black dress and pearls. You can channel Holly even more by adding oversize sunglasses and a floppy hat - an outfit appropriate for a Sing Sing visit.

Lesson #2 The thing your looking for could be right in front of you. For most of the movie Holly is chasing rich men who can give her the sort of life that see imagines would be best - that of immense wealth and privilege. She searches so hard that she overlooks the best man for her: "Fred." We've all seen it happen: the girl who refuses to take a job that she feels it's beneath her,  the guy who ignores a lovely girl because she's "not pretty enough. These things happen all the time! Make sure you don't end up missing what's right in front of you

Lesson #3 - Tell people (or pets!) how much you care about them. When Holly dumped Cat out of the taxi, I may have cried. A lot. Holly pretends the entire time that she doesn't care about Cat at all, that he's just a stowaway in her apartment, she quickly changes her mind when he's gone. The moral: don't be afraid to tell people how much you care, you may not get another chance!

So those are the top morals of the movie, if you haven't seen it yet - GET ON IT! This is a must watch for all beauties! I'm considering throwing a Breakfast at Tiffany's party, I'll let you know how that goes!
